Microscopía Acústica Amplificada
A quadraphonic immersion into the sonic textures of the invisible, designed for spatial translation and physical resonance.
Microscopía Acústica Amplificada is an immersive live performance presented in a quadraphonic format and commissioned by the Festival Eureka 2024. Premiered in November 2024 in Concepción, Chile.
The work invites the audience to reflect on the often-overlooked sonic dimensions of our environment. By shifting the scale of listening, it challenges our habitual modes of perception and proposes a rethinking of our relationship with the natural world through acoustic intimacy.
The performance is built from an extensive library of field recordings captured with contact microphones, hydrophones, and high-sensitivity microphones. These are arranged live using spatialization software to generate dynamic sound movements across a quadraphonic system, creating an evolving and immersive sonic topography.
The Quadraphonic Logic
For this project, I developed a quadraphonic spatialization system focused on micro-sonic amplification. The challenge was to maintain the delicate textures of microscopic sounds while ensuring a powerful, immersive field that surrounds the listener. By using a strictly symmetrical 4-point routing, I achieved a balance between direct sound and environmental reflection, making the ‘invisible’ tangible.
