
Estás en el Umbral: Un Diálogo entre lo Humano y lo Virtual (You Are at the Threshold: A Dialogue Between the Human and the Virtual) is an immersive sound piece based on object-based audio, developed using L-ISA software for a 14-speaker system. It was conceived as a performance in complete darkness for the Festival Nueva Ópera, with the support of Mess360.
This creation weaves together technology, art, and human perception into a three-dimensional soundscape that invites the audience to experience the act of crossing a doorway—an act that may seem simple at first glance—as a moment of profound transformation. Through the interaction of three distinct narratives—a human voice reflecting on the physical experience, an artificial intelligence offering an algorithmic perspective, and a Guaraní worldview that connects to ancestral and spiritual dimensions—the piece unfolds a multidimensional narrative about movement, transition, and the perception of space.

The spatialization of sound creates an immersive environment where each text occupies a distinct place, allowing the audience to dive into a layered dialogue between the human and the artificial, the digital and the tangible, the ancestral and the contemporary. Each perspective adds a unique layer of meaning: the humanity of the physical narrative reveals the intimacy of everyday gestures; the AI introduces a speculative view on the fusion of data and experience; and the Guaraní voice offers a profound understanding of territory and being as part of a greater whole.
This piece not only seeks to provoke reflection on how we move and inhabit thresholds—both physical and symbolic—but also to challenge the boundaries between bodies, languages, and technologies. It is a call to reconsider how data, rituals, and silenced voices shape our ways of perceiving time and space.
I’m truly excited to be part of this project. It’s a wonderful opportunity—not only because of the beauty of the space at chela.exacta, but also for the chance to work with a state-of-the-art sound system like the L-ISA Auditorium by mess.360, which makes this event truly special.
The freedom and space to explore new forms of opera provided by atlanticx through the festival’s curation and production, along with the support of Fundación Williams, are both unique and deeply valuable. This festival has already become a key event for both audiences and creators, and being part of it is a true privilege.
