All is Waves

I insist on the opinion that all is waves. – Erwin Schrödinger

The central theme revolves around the fundamental idea that everything in the universe comprises matter and energy within a space-time continuum. This philosophical perspective serves as the groundwork for exploring the universe of sound, contemplating sound waves as clusters of energy released within a specific space.

In 1959, physicist Erwin Schrödinger penned a distinctive phrase in a letter to John Lighton Synge. This binaural sound audiovisual project explores the theme inspired by that statement:
“I insist on the opinion that all is waves.”

With this statement, Erwin Schrödinger not only encapsulates his success in contributing to the understanding of quantum mechanics but also aligns it with the concept of wave-particle duality, a fundamental principle in quantum physics.

“All is Waves” is an immersive audiovisual experience created by Sol Rezza and Lucía Rotania (visuals) for the virtual gallery of the MUTEK Montreal Festival 2020.

This surrealistic narrative explores the complexity of the spatiality of sound and deep listening.
Taking as a starting point the thought that everything in the universe is matter and energy in a space-time. This work opens the door to enter the world of sound from the point of view of sound waves as clusters of energy that are released in a determined space.
